About Us:
The Great Neck Bridge Center is the brainchild of Rob Goldman and the late Jerry
Spitz who worked with Ronna Telsey,
Director of the Cumberland School in Great Neck to develop its weekly games.
Rob and Jerry both taught at the Cumberland School
for many years with Rob focusing on beginners and Jerry working mainly with
intermediate bridge players. Numerous players have graduated from Rob’s class
to Jerry’s and their collaboration on the duplicate game is designed to focus
on helping both beginners and intermediate bridge players enjoy the game of
duplicate at reasonable rates.
Rob has played in most American Bridge
tournaments. He directs duplicates and teaches bridge in various senior
centers, Y’s, and Adult Ed programs. He has written five books on
bridge which can be found on the web site “Beginnerbridge.com. He is an
official ACBL Club Director and Life Master.
Jerry was a retired school principal who has
taught and played tournament bridge since 1957. As a Gold Life Master
with over 3800 master points loved teaching, he combined his bridge expertise
and teaching skill to ensure fun and success for his students. He had
written his own weekly bridge column for the Litchfield County Times and was
a certified ACBL Director who ran a weekly game in his Connecticut condominium.
Both Rob and Jerry’s wife Judy are dedicated to
the concept that bridge will add a dimension of happiness as well as good
health to those who find as much pleasure in the game as they do. Their
major thrust is simple: Play bridge
and have fun.
